The City of London Police have drawn up this action list to help people remain alert to the threat of terrorist crime. 1. Stay alert - if you think you see or hear anything suspicious, dial 999. 2. Phone the Anti-terrorist Hotline on 0800 789 321 if you think you have information. There is a reward of up to £1 million for information leading to successful prosecutions. Police particularly want to hear from you if you have recently sold a vehicle to someone who seems suspicious or if you rent storage facilities or commercial or rental property to tenants who seem suspicious. 3. Join the Camera Watch scheme for advice on installing and using CCTV cameras at your premises. Phone the City Police on 0171 601 2323 for details. If you already use CCTV, remember to keep the camera lens clean and focused, make sure there is enough lighting, replace tapes daily and keep for 28 days, don’t use tapes more than 12 times and regularly check and service equipment. 4. Subscribe to Pager Alert early warning system about terrorist and criminal activities. Call 0345 581 860 for details. 5. Draw up and rehearse your contingency plan for use in case of terrorist criminal activity. For further advice or help, contact the Crime Prevention Office on 0171 601 2307. |
